Says no one ever. I am so unbelievably excited that I've put together seven and a half potential outfits for the night. To whichever generous person bequeathed me their invite, if you're reading this, THANK YOU SO MUCH!
This is by far the most glamorous night in publishing, which explains why its really difficult to get an invite. As someone who has worked in the industry for a total of 8 days, I feel I really deserve to go.
Some people have issues with the whole 'women's fiction' label because they say it encourages positive discrimination and because authors are authors, so why should there be allowed a separate gendered prize? To those people, Shhhhh! Don't ruin it. I'm looking forward to a really fun night where everyone's dressed to the nines and out to celebrate great new talent.
